Here's Why I Turned Down MIT & Stanford...
My Goals: 1. Take my presentation, public speaking, and argumentative skills to the next level. 2. Finish my efficient energy production design and bring it to life. 3. Qualify for ISEF and WIN TXSEF this time.
Bro took precalculus in 9th grade
My goals: 1. Conduct research on gravity and space biology. 2. Write and publish a complete research paper. 3. Present a simulation based on the research at a science fair.
A very stupid question but are these programs competitive like in order to enter are theses programs competitive?
gods I really should have started this stuff in sixth grade T-T oh well I have four years left this is all really really really scary but I hope I can accomplish something also you are very talented and thank you so much for divulging information to the public on this stuff :D
I think it would be beneficial to make a video on how to actually apply to regional science fairs to go to ISEF. The whole process seems very complicated. How do you go about filling out all of the forms, following all of the rules and regulations during research, and make sure not to screw any of the technicalities up so you aren’t eligible to participate? I want to compete, but what if I spend all summer doing research only to find out I wasn’t documenting things properly or wasn’t following a certain rule, and now my whole summer has been rendered useless?
Another person requested this as well, this could be rly good
Great video! A potential idea: How to Win International Olympiads/Competitions as a High School Student
Maybe a vid to get motivated for research and get us hyped
Video idea but I really want to know: Most of your videos pertain to research, so I have two questions: 1. In the same major, which is more efficient, writing a book or a research paper? I am curious about this personally. I think some students who excel in writing could publish a comprehensive book instead of a research paper. How should they present it to the AO? 2. If a group of students from various countries wishes to publish a STEM-related research paper together, how can they manage and balance the work to publish it effectively without the involvement of a professor and at no cost in online. Need your advice on this. Thank you so much for making awesome and informative videos.
Can you please make a video on what high schoolers should be doing in the summer
Ryan
Incredibleeee❤
Hi Rishab! Thanks a lot for another high-quality video for STEM students. At the edge of summer, I really need a guide like this to boost my full potential & efficiency in lab.
i wanna be like you when i grow up My goals: 1. Get into National Science and Technology Fair (way for ISEF) 2. Get published in Nature/high impact journal 3. Compete in EGOI, f-ma, ZCO, ZIO (way for ICO).
Is it too late to actually join the skool community? I was busy so I didn't fill out the google form... BUT It's invite only based on the sneak-peak google form, and now I dont know how to verify myself as it asks for an email address😢.
An awesome video once again… my video recommendation would be on read flags on college apps and how to avoid them
You should make a video on STEM competitions vs STEM research. which one is easy ? comparison between Science competitions and science fairs, and how we can use summer programs to do real research
bro got me into research and have been grinding it ever since 🫡
as always w rishab & w vid
This video was extremely helpful! You should do a video on how to leverage connections and cold emailing for research opportunities. How to look for, and what to look for in mentors. Personally, I have a bunch of extra-curriculars and activities that don't tie together. I would really appreciate a video on college essay writing and strategies in how to portray yourself in applications. Thanks!
For some reason the website isn't working for me.
"Server error There is a problem with the server configuration. Check the server logs for more information." says that when I try to log in with my email
This is actually perfect for me to learn, thank you so much! I have a suggestion that you could make a video solely comparing different research competitions (ISEF vs JSHS) and which one you should pick based on goals. Thank you!
Great Video!!! Video idea: The importance of high school counselor recommendations and how to build relationships with them considering some schools are larger than others.
Great vid! Video idea: Many students struggle to connect with their high school counselor, who provides a letter of recommendation for colleges. What tips and advice do you have to build a relationship with your high school counselor?
arc!!!
You could also do a video on how to go about getting your research papers published and you could provide some journals that are good for high schoolers to try to get published in. This could be part of a video on writing a successful research paper like in my other comment
Thank you for this video!! Since this video pertains to reading and breaking down research papers, you should make another video about the steps of writing a research paper and like provide a template and just talk about the components of a successful research paper.
a good idea would be: - courses (could be specific or general) that could benefit isef/research. for example: what ai videos for application, what courses? what to read?
You should make a video about how to stay motivated and concentrated on topics
Thank you so much for making me interested in research. Please keep posting more of these videos.
first to commment
Needed this
Let me know what video you want to see next about STEM research, science fairs, college apps, etc.!
Great video, very informative. Below I added quite a few video ideas. Video Ideas: How do you stand out in your extracurriculars (how would you decide what extracurriculars to do)? Is creating a non-profit worth it (e.g. if it is helping people with disabilities or cleaning up local forests, would it be worth it to differ from other simpler non-profits or is this idea completely useless)? - potentially a UA-cam short for you Good Extracurriculars/Research Opportunities for each major (Computer Science, Chemistry, Aerospace, etc.) IRO (international research olympiad) informational video (promoting your discord server for it and the whole goal of it) Does research have to create a certain thing (e.g. do you have to create an ai for your research to be impactful for competitions like ISEF or can you complete research and show its impact)?

I see, yeah, this could be very interesting.
Maybe a video on how to effectively present/discuss research findings?
how to choose what problems to work on (in terms of research, startups, etc). not specifically how to choose a research topic (as you've done already), but what area to pursue based on a combo of your interests, opportunities, and market trends. as an example, why did you switch to neuro + AI? solving AGI??? another idea is how academia differs from industry and how you can transfer an impact from one to another. that's on everyone's mind rn (musk and lecun).
Hi Rishab, I was wondering where the document template is for this video. I clicked on the sciencefair link but it seems to redirect me to a page specifically filled with 'react-markdown' codes (?)
It doesn't look finished.
Is the template not working for anyone else? I opened it in the US and it worked, but I am currently traveling and whenever I open the link it takes me to a page that says "A demo of react-markdown".
Same!
Rishab! I just graduated middle school yesterday with valedictorian/salutatorian!
You got both?
This is an awesome video and I'm looking forward to the next upload on how to analyze and write scientific research! You mentioned earlier in the video that the Skool community was invite only, I'm a rising junior interested in summer research. How do I prove my interest to access the free Skool resources? Thanks for this upload :>
It’s not actually invite only. You filled out a form on the discord server, and he gave an invite link. I believe everyone who filled the form got the invite (I am in the Skool community so that why I’m telling).
scienceguy101 out 🫡
Thank you Rishab!
So exciting
let me know what you think about my reflection and if you agree!
I completely agree with this reflection given the current trends with social media. It's truly a shame that purely educational content may be hidden to facilitate a specific type of community. I'm happy to know you'll focus on your research, it's inspiring to see a researcher be so self-aware, honest, and strive for further development in STEM. That being said, I wish there were more transparent resources that describe in detail how to operate an independent research project, especially as a teenager. Thank you for the transparency in your content Rishab, you've made a world of a difference to so many ambitious students!
I agree with your prospective on social media. It’s so easy to fall into the trap of “fake productivity”- that’s what these platforms promote. They kind of trick you into thinking you’re learning and growing though you’re not. At the end of the day, most people are better without them. I’m interested to see how your new idea of a private community will play out. Thanks for all you do, by the way! You’re changing lives out here.
Going into college, I definitely agree with everything you’ve mentioned! It’s hard to find authentic videos that focuses on genuinely improving a community (instead of just superficial advice and ideas). As for deleting the discord, it honestly just emphasises some of the misinformation that’s been going around and I really respect your choice for choosing a different platform. During my senior year, I’ve taken so much away from every single one of your videos and know many, and I mean many, will continue to. Love the last quote :)
I've left the Rishab Academy Server. Your words are one of the most real things I've heard and its time someone made this change to move from statistics to science.
Damn this is useful! Btw can you make a video on a full format of science fair posters? Or link a video you did before
the quote at the end was goated
Cool!
I'd take the scholarship at BU and save the tuition money for graduate or professional school.
'this is a statue of me' really got me😂😂😂
I got a 1570 after this video kickstarted my studying
my goals 1. Win my national Young Scientist competion 2. Get into RSI 3. Help Bio-medical science with AI
This is such great advice. I'm a phd student, and it's been years since high school for me, but this is still even good. You're a very smart and helpful student. Good luck
As a high schooler, sophomore in fall, I worry that if I put in all this effort and work to get into Harvard and devote my remaining child years to it that if I don’t get in it will end up leaving me a depressed mess.
